PeerPower was created by the Times of India Group. The focus was to build a social network that caters to senior level professionals. Users can manage contacts and get to know other top level professionals. Today, PeerPower helps many users connect and build relationships while opening up potentially profitable opportunities.
There are social networks for almost every group imaginable. PeerPower is unique because it was created specifically for top level professionals. Senior management members and other high ranking individuals can meet one another and share stories, suggestions and more. PeerPower also helps users stay on top of the most recent industry developments and other relevant topics to their career and company.
The PeerPower website is intended for professionals, and this really shows in the design. The site is well organized and uses a laid back blue and white color scheme off set by hints of red and gold. Images of global maps and silhouettes of business people add a little character to the design. In general the site appears much like other popular social networking websites, but without the colorful fluff.
A new user can sign up for a PeerPower membership by clicking on the gold “Sign up now for free” button in the lower, left hand corner of the homepage. This directs the user to the registration form which requires an email address, first and last name, country location, city, password, gender, company name, title and department. The user is also asked to select their functional area (or industry) and provide educational information including their degree, when they attended school and where they received their education. The terms and conditions box is automatically selected so the user only has to click the gold “Join Now” button at the bottom of the form to finish registration. After doing so, the user is advised that they must check their email for an activation message to access their account.
Just like other social networks, PeerPower benefits by having more participants in its community. The site offers users a free membership. Anyone can stop by and create an account, although the site is intended for top level professionals. Every user is given access to all current features. Users are not limited in how many contacts they can maintain or interactions they can initiate. At this point, no premium paid membership or subscription option is available. All users are given access to their PeerPower account for free.
PeerPower is intended for a specific group of professionals: those who are at the top in India. The user is asked to provide their title and company information as well as educational details. PeerPower can help these senior level individuals make strong connections with their peers and others through social networking.
